## Exporting from SFCC

1. Go to `Merchant Tools > Ordering > Import & Export` and click **Export** under **Orders (XML)**.
2. On the **Order Export** page, open the **Order Creation** section, go to the **Advanced** tab, and set **Date From** to approximately 12 months back and **Date To** to today.
3. Upload the exported XML files to your private Forter S3 bucket. Find your S3 credentials on the [Credentials](https://portal.forter.com/app/dashboard/integration/credentials/) page of the Forter Portal (`Integration Center > Credentials`), under **AWS S3**. ## Exporting from an external database or OMS

This applies if your historical transaction data lives outside SFCC, for example after a recent replatform. The same [Credentials](https://portal.forter.com/app/dashboard/integration/credentials/) and [Historical Data](https://docs.forter.com/historical-data) pages apply.

## Why it matters

Forter customizes its model to each merchant's risk profile. Training the model on historical data shortens the ramp-up period and improves accuracy from day one, by running past transactions and account data through the model and adjusting it against actual fraud outcomes (chargebacks, fraud, declines).
